Volunteer

The Literacy Council needs volunteers to help with programs for adults and children.

Adult Literacy Tutors

Tutors are needed to work with adults who have very beginning reading and math skills.  Tutors may be assigned to morning, afternoon or evening classes.  Tutors may be asked to volunteer 2 to 4 hours per week.

ESL Conversation Partners

For adults who speak a language other than English, volunteers are needed to help with practice of spoken English.  Partners will focus on real-life, informal conversations that will help adults communicate effectively during day-to-day activities.

Community Readers

This volunteer opportunity includes reading monthly at community partner sites serving children at the early literacy levels through elementary school.  An interview and references may be required.
